However, this issue seems to only happen when different versions of MS Office are installed and I only had one version. I decided to check my Excel again just to make sure I wasn’t logged into a different account and ended up noticing something strange – my Excel was both “Activated” and “Required Activation” like other people asking for help online. That’s when I ended up at and noticed that my Office 2016 Pro Plus key wasn’t even shown as associated with my account even though I only have one account. Nothing worked, I even double-checked my activation key at to make sure it was still valid. I tried all the suggestions found online: Made sure I was using the correct Microsoft/Live account, Repaired the installation, Reinstalled all of office, removed registry entries, as well as reinstalling the activation key via command-line. Excel was notifying me that I needed to activate my product but signing in kept failing to re-activate and I’d get an error that said “This account is not associated with this product”. I was having a problem earlier with my Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2016 that was de-activated after using Windows Update.
